So our plans to take the kids to Granny's house today did not work out for me.  I got ready to go into work and loaded the two older kids in the car and headed out.  As you can see from the video below it was challenging  to say the least.  I was able to get to 520 and head for Merritt Island.  As I started to go down N Tropical Trail I saw cars stopping and turning around.  I heard it was from a down power line so I was determined to try and fine a different route to my Mom's house to check on her.  I called her house and got a busy signal so I wasn't sure what to think.  Come to find out my Dad was on the phone to his son in GA.  I drove down Courtney and tried to cut through Buttonwood subdivision.  To much of it was flooded to get to my Mom's that way.  Third attempt was to go down Lucas off of Courtney.  The intersection of Lucas and the Trail was flooded.  I finally got her on the phone and told her what I was doing and that I could not get to her safely.  I might have made it if I went down to Target and took the back roads but I knew there are lots of low lying road between there and my Mom's.  She said they were fine and had power and for me to just go back home.  By this time Holly had also called to cancel work for the day.  To many people were finding roads like me....flooded.

During all of this I also was on the phone with Carol checking on her.  Only part of School Street is flooded.  It stops right before her house.  Thank you God!  Her back yard is a swamp but it is not effecting her house yet.  She is able to leave her house and get out onto Pineda St. So many people here in Brevard County are drowning in water.  Streets and houses are flooded.  Just imagine how bad it could have been if it was a Hurricane.

I talked to my Mom a few hours ago and she has some wind driven rain that came into her work shop.  The only things that got ruined were some scrap fabric.  Not jobs that she is working on now.

School is closed again tomorrow.  I think they are using some as shelters.  Tomorrow the weather should get better.  I'm sure I will go into work.  If the waters pull back some maybe I can get the kids to Granny's tomorrow.
